Features of the Lodge
It is a sustainable project, created to support the Sionas and Sequoia indigenous communities located in the Cuyabeno Reserve. The hostel is only 10 minutes by canoe from the Laguna Grande, an area with great diversity, accessible all year round by canoe through the Cuyabeno river. The infrastructure of the Pirahna Ecolodge consists of 14 rooms located in traditional huts made from local materials and 4 rooms in the tower. All rooms are equipped with private bathrooms with hot and cold water and mosquito nets. The rooms in the tower have large windows and balconies. The roof top located in the Canopy Tower is the ideal place for those visitors who love birds and enjoy fantastic views from the Ecuador Amazon Rainforest.

DAY 1: QUITO - LAGO AGRIO - CUYABENO

Flight at 9:15 am, or travel by bus (the night before the tour, 8 hours) to Lago Agrio. Private ground transportation from Lago Agrio to El Puente. Canoe trip on the Cuyabeno river to the camp. After the lunch, we will visit the Laguna Grande, swim and enjoy the sunset. At night we will have dinner and an exciting night walk.

DAY 2: RÍO CUYABENO

Breakfast. Walk through the primary forest to learn about the medicinal plants and the biological diversity of flora and fauna. Lunch at the camp. River navigation to observe pink dolphins (if conditions allow). Return to the camp. Dinner. Night canoe expedition in search of alligators.

DAY 3 : CUYABENO

Breakfast. Traditional canoe ride through the Caimancocha Lagoon to discover the amazing surroundings of Pirahna Ecolodge. Lunch at the camp. Then we will walk through a primary forest that includes lessons on how we can make use of medicinal plants for survival. Before returning to the camp, we will enjoy a time of relaxation in the Laguna Grande, where it is possible to swim and enjoy the sunset. Return to the camp. Dinner.

DAY 4: CUYABENO

Breakfast. Visit to the Shaman. Box lunch. We will explore the Siona Tarapuy Community, where the naturalist guide will explain about the culture and traditions of the native people. Return to the camp. Dinner.

DAY 5: CUYABENO - LAGO AGRIO – QUITO

Early in the morning, bird watching and breakfast. Navigation on the Cuyabeno river back to El Puente. Box Lunch. Transfer to Lago Agrio. Return to Quito by bus or plane (15:30 / 16:00).
